Breaking Down Bravery

BRAVERY! Your biggest and best life is waiting for you…just on the other side of what you are the most scared of. So what exactly is BRAVERY anyways? How do you finally just conquer the scary stuff and finally do it? Well, I’m going to tell you this….it’s not always easy and never gets easier.

I’ve operated at a doing it scared, since day one. What will people think of me? How can I just go out and be brave? I do a lot of things thinking “who the hell am I”? Well the truth is…I’m really brave.

Luckily, I’ve surrounded myself with other brave and strong women. Like my very first podcast guest, Belle Lockerby. Who just happens to be the author of a brand new, smashing the charts book, Awkward is the New Brave.

BRAVERY! Your biggest and best life is waiting for you…just on the other side of what you are the most scared of. So what exactly is BRAVERY anyways? How do you finally just conquer the scary stuff and finally do it? Well, I’m going to tell you this….it’s not always easy and never gets easier.

Meet GIRL SQUAD boss babe, Belle Lockerby.

In her literary debut “Awkward is the New Brave”, Belle Lockerby becomes our bravery bestie through sharing her personal story of overcoming an arsenal of life’s “adversity wedgies”.

Awkward Is The New Brave, unearths achingly personal stories about heartbreak, grief, relationships, and finding gumption. Whether she’s running naked from a green tree frog, trying to flirt with her chiropractor or handling the loss of a mother and a marriage, Belle’s memoir is tinged with tragedy and littered with laugh so hard you’ll pee your Spanx moments.

On this wild ride through her life, Belle examines her experience with bravery and reveals it’s not the big ass acts of courage that make a warrior, it’s the everyday moments where we choose to look fear in eye with an awkward stare and make it out alive.

There are so many people out there looking for support, longing to step up and give life all they’ve got — and in Awkward Is The New Brave they will find a member of their tribe offering up inspiration, sistership and a hand to hold along the way.

Belle encourages everyone to be brave enough to be themselves, awkward enough to try the uncomfortable things, and kind enough to become the safe space for others doing the same.

Having coached over 1000 humans from all walks of life, Belle lives and breathes change. She knows we can re-purpose our pasts using a shield of humor and a sword of honesty to become lovers of AND fighters for our own lives.

Straight from Awkward is the New Brave-

“Ever wanted to be brave and do “your thing”, only to be sucked into the undertow of self-doubt?

Using humour as her shield and honesty as her sword, 40-something single mum Belle Lockerby embarks on a “Year of Bravery” to become a worthiness warrior.

With heart-wrenching vulnerability, Belle powerfully weaves together the many life traumas and tragedies (the least of which is the state of her underwear drawer) to turn her pain into purpose, seeking out love, life and laughs, even when she finds herself in the shit − literally.

Belle’s intensely personal story is the ultimate example of being brave, stepping away from just existing and moving forward into living with your “geez I’d really love a pedicure” feet to discover the warrior in you.

If you’ve been knocked down by life’s storms, Belle’s here to remind us that we are worthy of being fighters for AND lovers of ourselves.

Aren’t we all awkwardly brave in one way or another anyway"?”

In our first episode of the Girl Squad Podcast, Belle broke it down step by step, how she wrote her book, even though she was super scared to do it. She spent an entire year practicing Bravery. From surfing to even touch a frog. Everyone has their issues….

Even though you might be really scared to do it…Belle shows you how it can be done. Listen below to this fabulous interview with my Australian bestie, Belle.
